top 5 bachelorette locations

In your mid twenties you spend most of your free time going to weddings. I have countless dresses crowding my closet waiting to be worn to a party with a weird DJ who makes too many jokes and sitting at the singles table. But one thing I look forward to is the bachelorette party!

Bachelorette parties are a tradition that have transformed from one night to an entire weekend of games, drinking, and matching t-shirts and I couldn’t be happier. Some people find them stressful but who doesn’t like a weekend away? Over the course of many bachelorette parties, I have created a list of my top 5 favorite locations to spend your final weekend as a single lady.

  1. The Bahamas

My friends packed their bags and headed to Atlantis in the Bahamas last year and my goodness did they have a blast. Everything you need is right at the hotel, including multiple restaurants, a casino and a fairly large club. The Atlantis has huge pools with a water slide through the fish tank which I have always wanted to do. The beaches are kind of secluded which is great for pictures in your matching suits.

2. Chicago

We hosted my best friend Sarah’s bachelorette party. We stayed at the Hotel Indigo Chicago Gold Coast which was seconds away from amazing restaurants and bars and walking distance to Howl at the Moon, Sarah’s one request. Howl at the Moon is a dueling piano bar where you can request any song you want, and for a couple bucks they’ll let you get up on stage and sing with them!

On top of that, there is a booze cruise! There are a few throughout the day, we took the afternoon/sunset and it was a blast. It is a two-story cruiser with a dance floor and two bars that make pretty strong drinks for a decent price. Its about two and a half hours long and you travel along the river and out onto Lake Michigan for an amazing view of the city skyline.

We had brunch at Hampton Social, with a real Florida beach vibe with delicious food and has great tables for large groups, just make sure to make a reservation. We jumped from bar to bar downtown and gorged on donuts and mimosas for a little hair of the dog.

3. New Orleans

I feel like this one was a given but I will tell you we had an absolute blast in New Orleans on my friend Laura’s bachelorette party. We stayed at the Crown Plaza at the top of Bourbon Street just a few steps away from all the action. We had amazing dinners at The Court of Two Sisters and a random pizza place on Bourbon Street, which was honestly one of the best pizzas I’ve had. We went to a Burning Hunk show where we got Laura up on stage for a very hot lap dance and we brunched at The Ruby Slipper with massive mimosas and had beignets at Cafe du Monde.

Bourbon street is filled with bars for you to pop in an out of, shot girls lining the streets waiting to shower your bride with alcohol, and don’t be fooled, they will charge you. But if you want to shy away from the rowdy streets of Bourbon, Frenchman Street is a couple blocks up with a quieter feel, tons of live music, and a midnight art market with great jewelry finds.

4. Miami

You have to first decide what kind of budget you are on if you are headed to Miami, is it a Downtown Miami budget or a South Beach budget, once you decide that, you can choose from hundreds of restaurants and bars to take your party. There are so many hotels that offer adjoining rooms or small suites conducive for your girls weekend. Some of our favorite restaurants are the Diner at Wynwood, Yardbird, American Social, Beaker & Gray, and my personal favorite, Artichoke Pizza.

If you can’t tell, we like booze cruises, and Miami has a great booze cruise for your entire crew around Biscayne Bay and will even stop around a tiny island for you to swim and sunbathe. You can book a private boat for all your girls, or jump on a party boat with some random people, you’d be surprised how many drinks a veil will get your bride!

5. Cancun

Ok, I didn’t personally go on this one but it looked amazing, my best friend Stephanie went with all her girlfriends on their friend Kristi’s bachelorette to Iberostar all inclusive resort right on the beach. This sounds like an incredible idea, the major expenses are your plane ticket, then the cost of the room and everything else is included. How amazing. There were a couple bars at the hotel and en event center with different shows each night. They did an excursion outside of the hotel where they went zip lining which also had food and drinks included!
