A Meet Cute

So as you all know I work at my moms wine bar in Winter Garden, Florida while in between my travels. And yes, I know you are dying to hear the rest of our Trudy adventure, but I have to interrupt it to bring you the most amazing story of coincidence

Every other Monday we have our Originals Only Open Mic Night, this is where some of the most talented people in Orlando get together to share their original music. It definitely has a Blue Bird kind of feel to it in the sense that you have to be quiet while the musicians are playing.

So naturally, when there was a noisy table in the back I had to go whip them into shape. Of course I was really nice but the ended up getting their bill and leaving.

You know I hate it when people don’t like me, so I replayed the situation in my head at least six times.

I went to check on some tables outside to find the two men sitting outside. Relieved, I went right up to them and told them how happy I was to see them, how I thought I offended them and blah blah blah.

We got to chatting.

One of the guys, R J Wolfe, was a writer talking about his new book The Last Days of Draden, a book I have just ordered and can’t wait to read. R J was sitting with a man by the name of Banks Helfrich, a movie producer.

If that isn’t a movie star name I don’t know what is.

So, I’m a blogger, R J is a writer, both self explanatory and a mutual ground, but Banks, Banks does something really cool, he hosts Life Screenings.

What is that? I asked the same question.

A life screening is an 80 minute event shared between filmmakers and film lovers, where you go beyond just watching a film on the big screen, you actually get to talk and Skype with real film makers.

You know when you are watching an amazing movie and your favorite character does something stupid and you yell “WHY DID YOU DO THAT?” at the screen and you wish you could understand why the writers did that. Well now you can.

I am definitely one of those who talks at my the big screen and has a million questions all the time so I am so excited to attend Banks’ upcoming life screenings.

The closest one is Thursday, December 21 in Lakeland, Florida. It is called Black Cow Jumps. “It is a reality-based theatrical experiences which explores relationships, connection, and humanity.” as Banks describes it, “ All films are curated with the intention of showing a world we desire to live in.”

All of these performances travel all over to living rooms, theaters, libraries, bars, vineyards, and they are coming to downtown Orlando in January. I already have my ticket of course.

You can find a life screening near you on Facebook or at bankshelfrich.com

I love how the world works. These two guys walked into the Attic not knowing they would meet a crazed book and film loving travel blogger ready to be front row at their next event.

I hope to see some of you at the Winter Park life screening on January 21!

Next, I get started reading my new book and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!
