Waco, Texas
I have never seen an episode of Fixer Upper, I had no idea what Magnolia Market was and I definitely needed to google what a silo was. In fact, I had never heard of Waco, Texas until Kaitlin said we were going.
Although it was a rough time getting there and $30 worth of cupcakes and cookies from the silo bakery, Waco worked its way up to the top of my favorites list.
After we had gotten poor Trudy a new jack, taped up the window and dried her off from our worst day in Trudy history extravaganza and drowned our sorrows in In-N-Out it was time to explore the real reason we came to Waco.
I don’t know what I was expecting but I was truly blown away by Magnolia Market and the existence of Chip and Joanna and now I have to become their best friend.
A few miles from downtown but its own little world, Magnolia Market has food trucks, endless supplies of decorations and their very own bakery filled with deliciousness.
We got to the market early thinking we would be beating the crowd but of course, the place was packed, and for good reason.
We grabbed a cup of coffee from two incredibly cute barista boys at Common Grounds and faced the crowds inside the market.
Imagine the most amazingly decorated house you have ever seen and that is this market, a pottery barn on crack covered in shiplap and everything is for sale.
They had everything from dining room tables to journals and pencils. Fake flowers, hand made wooden wall decor and even baby clothes. Kaitlin checked off her present list, we grabbed some t-shirts and got out of the madness.
We were recommended to try a food truck called Club Sandwich, which I thought was going to be actual club sandwiches so you can imagine my surprise when it turned out to be an Asian fusion rice bowl. It was actually a very pleasant surprise.
We ate our lunch on the grass lawn in front of the silos then hopped in line (that was wrapped around the silos) to wait for our cupcakes.
Remember when i said $30 in cupcakes and cookies? I wasn’t joking. We were only going to get one each. But we left with 5 cupcakes and 4 cookies…
And let me tell you, when you are on a budget and you spend $30 on sweets it becomes your food for the next couple of days, and it was totally worth it.
Even though I had no idea where Waco was, what was there, it turned out to be a pretty awesome place.
