Ducks in a Row

Time is a funny thing. You sit and stare at the clock hoping the minute ticks by faster or you pray that time slows down. I’d kill for a time machine to fast forward through shitty times and relive moments I want to hold onto. Or in this case, I would pause the clock to catch up on all the time I have missed here on Gibson Girls!

Not too long ago, I went with some friends to New Smyrna Beach. I took out the many beer bottles to the recycling bin and proceeded to dump them onto the cement floor completely missing the trashcan. Of course they shattered and rolled in eleven different directions which I just stood and watched. I had no ducks to even put in a row and four months later, nothing has changed.

Life is a funny thing. One minute its perfect the next you’re hanging upside down from a branch in a piñata costume and you are wondering how you got there. Keeping up with everything going on is enough to give you whip lash. And all we want is to put the ducks in a row and say we have it together.

When you are traveling its easy to forget about work, worries, and all the stress that comes with life. You can write constantly every week about traveling because you are traveling but when you finally return to reality you spend months trying to catch up and get back into the swing of things. Priorities get all mixed up and next thing you know, you’re six months behind on our blog you want to become your job.

So here is the deal, we are back and ready to roll. Articles are flying, guides are guiding and I promise I won’t leave like that again. I’ll catch you up on what has been going on.

I got a seasonal job at Lululemon that consumed my life, still worked at my mom’s bar on the weekend and had five days off in the month of December. I moved out of the sketchy area of Winter Garden to a cute little house a block away from the main street with Bella. Yes, I can walk to work.  I got my heart broken, put on some gangster rap, which turned out to be Hoodie Allen, drank a couple glasses of wine, and pulled myself together.

I am going to Denver in a few weeks, Hawaii in May, Spain in June and Mexico in August. I have learned that no one really has their life together. Sure we are all giving it our damn over the moon best shot at getting it together but in reality we are all a little frantic about bills, school, work, marriage, babies, parents, sisters, moms, dad, everything.

My sister wants to make a vision board. When asked what a vision board was she said “it’s a bunch of picture of my visions of life and it either works out or it doesn’t.” I don’t know why but I almost peed my pants laughing so hard. What would I even put on a vision board? A plane ticket anywhere and a million dollars?

We laughed so hard and realized we might have some kind of animals to put in a row but they certainly weren’t ducks. Bella says she has a shark, a cat, a black sheep and a blowfish and there is no way they are going to sit together. I think I have a headless chicken running around like crazy somewhere.

Life is hard. It is like looking both ways before you cross the street and then getting hit by an airplane. But its how you get back up that makes you who you are. If you are hanging upside down in a piñata costume the bright side is if you fall you will most likely get to have candy.

I’m still looking for more animals to put in a row. I know they won’t be ducks and they might be all over the place but they will be mine. I don’t want to have it together because if I did, what would I have to tell you guys about? Think about it, I would book every plane ticket correctly, never make a wrong turn, or never do anything stupidly dangers to entertain you with. Nah, I think I’ll stick with this crazy headless chicken, its much more exciting.

Stay tuned for everything we have coming for youJ
