Melt’s on Main Street /// Winter Garden, FL

Winter Garden is filled with cute, eclectic places around every corner, from wine bars and tasting rooms to boutiques and markets, Melts on Main Street grilled cheese joint has found its perfect niche. And, of course, they have brunch.

Once you open the doors to MOM’s you are immediately teleported back 40 years to the 70s. Floral couches, yellow recliners, tube TVs, high school pictures of all the town locals (including my own mother with her awesome 70s hair) line the walls. To top it off, remember your mom saying “close the door you weren’t raised in a barn!”? How about “it’s all fun and games until someone looses and eye!”? Those two, along with dozens of other sayings cover the walls.

If you can’t picture it yet, you walk up to the bar with a white board for the menu, market lights, and 8-tracks glued to the counter. You are literally in an episode of That 70s Show.

Now onto the food. On top of bottomless mimosas for $12 and fantastic Bloody Mary’s (which we consider food) MOM’s has two brunch items: Sausage Biscuits and Gravy and Quiche Lorraine.

I ordered the biscuits and gravy because I’m a good little southern girl and I was not disappointed, nor was I hungry by the end— I could have rolled out out of there.

The plate was filled by two homemade biscuits smothered in gravy, sausage, and cheddar cheese. The gravy was cheesy and delicious with bits of sausage in every bite. The biscuits were flakey and golden and buttery as all homemade biscuits should be. Needless to say, I shoved my face full.

Courtney ordered the Quiche Lorraine. This was more of normal size portion. A nice, personal-sized quiche with, yes, homemade crust that crumbles in your mouth is holding the fluffy egg dish filled with cheese and ham with a side of fresh fruit.

If those are not your brunch items of choice, their menu contains all fresh, local ingredient grilled cheese sandwiches. My personal favorite, The Who Shot JR with buffalo chicken and caramelized onions, goes great with a Bloody Mary, in my professional opinion.

If you have a minute, hang out. Live music starts around noon. Grab one of the surprisingly comfy 70s couches, sit back, relax, and enjoy being in the 70s.
