Grey's on Main /// Franklin, TN

Grays on Main is housed in an old Rexall drug store.

The building is two stories with the live music up top. Jazz on Sundays. The family used to live upstairs so quaint touches like the kids measurements are in a back hall. There is a third level which is private.

Classic brunch items with a twist.

We tried several things to make it interesting. First up, Hot Chicken and Waffles, classic Nashville style hot chicken in a spicy sauce over waffles with a great Rosemary syrup that neutralizes the hot. Super yummy.

We also tried the Chicken Salad Sandwich, which was on toasted bread with classic chicken salad and avocado slices. Served with fries. The Shrimp and Grits with collards were next. The shrimp was served tails on, which I know is a culinary thing but its a real pain. Their collards had great flavor. Grits were very cheesy. Lots of sharp cheddar. Only 4 shrimp, so that could have been a little better.

The Smoked Salmon Sandwich was delicious with fried green tomatoes and seasoned cream cheese spread. Served with O'Brien potatoes, or hash browns with green and red peppers and seasonings.

The Farmers Daughter was an open faced sandwich. Sourdough bread, eggs ham bacon Swiss and smothered in hollandaise, like a Benedict. It came with sweet potato hash but since I am not a fan of sweet potatoes with cinnamon sugar, I opted for a side of grits.

The Mimosas were not bottomless but they were served in a big wine glass with shaved orange skin and not too much OJ, which is how we like it. The Bloody Mary's had a house made smokey tomato juice for its base and were garnished with a pickle spear and an olive with a spicy salt rim.

Full bar, craft cocktails, craft on draft.

Highly recommend on any trip to Historic Franklin. Gray's Brunch is not to be missed.
