Welcome to Nashville

We cannot tell a lie, we could have died in Nashville (not literally) but the amount of restaurants and bars and shopping left us rolling out of places with empty wallets and a bit over served. That being said, this city is so much fun! If you haven't been, go. Take this guide and explore the local side of Music City, but be sure not to miss out on Broadway, even if it is touristy...

Where to Eat

Prepare to gain about ten pounds but its totally worth it!

  • Jack Brown’s: One of the best burger joints ever.

  • Bar Taco: A great place for unique tacos, tapas style.

  • Puckets: a great place to get completely stuffed breakfast, lunch and dinner in Franklin, just outside of Nashville.

  • 55 South: A nice tapas-style place in central Franklin.

  • Grays on Main: Brunch, brunch, brunch, the most delicious brunch in Franklin.

  • Christie’s Cookies: Homemade, famous cookies, go get a warm chocolate chip cookie after some burgers at Jack Brown’s

  • Jeni’s Ice Cream: in 12 South district of Nashville with all kinds of unique flavors of ice cream.

  • Mas Tacos: located in the Fatherland district of East Nashville, order at the window and find a spot on the patio and enjoy these awesome tacos.

  • Lockland Table: “Fancy” by Nashville terms in the Fatherland district of East Nashville but still delicious. Remember: “fancy” in Nashville still means you can wear jeans.

  • Daddy Dogs: They have one store front on Broadway but the rest are carts all over Nashville. Almost as fantastic as a NYC street dog.

  • Loveless Cafe: Franklin, TN

  • Cane Prime: Steak house famous for the cut, preparation and the wine list.

  • Virago: Delicious sushi, remember, Nashville is landlocked so sushi can become a bit pricey.

  • Bob’s Steak and Chop House

  • Bastion: right off music row and has awesome nachos

  • Hatte B’s: the best Nashville hot chicken in town

  • Proper Bagel: I ordered a cinnamon crunch bagel with maple bacon cream cheese…need I say more? Get crazy with the 20 or so type of bagels and cream cheese or try a breakfast or lunch sandwich.

  • Frothy Monkey: In 12 South and a great place for a cup of coffee or brunch

  • The Southern: Right in Downtown Nashville and a great spot for lunch or dinner.

  • The Flip Side: In 12 South and has a menu of nothing but all different kinds of chicken.

What to See

Between the murals and the music this list could get pretty long, but I picked my all-time favorites.

  • Country Music Hall of Fame: Walk through the Omni Hotel into the Hall of fame and see all kinds of famous costumes from country music stars and the famous Hatch Show Prints where you can buy a great souvenir music poster.

  • Johnny Cash Museum: A good afternoon activity, doesn’t take too long and is very interesting.

  • Broadway: Other than drinking, there are some cute, touristy souvenir shops, boot stores, and just a fun place to stroll through the heart of Music City

  • 12 South: A great neighborhood with awesome shops and food. The location of the famous Draper James and one of the coolest vintage shops, Savant, take some time and walk around and grab some Jenni’s ice cream or a cronut.

  • The Gultch: Another awesome neighborhood with some great shops and restaurants, a very hipster part of town and the home to Two Old Hippie’s clothing store.

  • The pedestrian bridge next to Korean Veterans Bridge has an amazing view of the city.

Where to Drink

I found tons of places but I can’t remember all of them but here are the ones I do.

  • Pinewood Social Club: A group of restaurants and bars, there is a place for everyone.

  • Santa’s Pub: Not for the light hearted, it is the number one best dive bar in Nashville and it is literally a trailer with Natty Light and PBR.

    On Broadway

  • The Valentine rooftop bar

  • Crazy Town: multiple levels with a rooftop bar

  • Acme: An old feed store converted into a bar with

  • Willie’s Western World: A classic local spot in the middle of tourist town

  • Tootsies

    Printer’s Alley

  • Bourbon Street Blues: Sit upstairs and look down on the awesome live blues music

  • Skulls Rainbow Room: Speak easy type cabaret/burlesque bar with great craft cocktails

  • Winners and Losers: Two different bars, we prefer Losers and their outside deck

    Music Row

  • The Irish pub on the corner is great and owned by family friends with live music

  • Kind of a college scene but can be really fun

 The Music City

We almost died to get this guide but trust me, it is epic.
